We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and nature-loving Groundskeeper to maintain and enhance the natural and built environments of the Owl Creek Landing. This is a hands-on position involving landscaping, light construction, routine maintenance, and seasonal tasks across diverse terrain. The Park Groundskeeper reports directly to the Park Manager.

Responsibilities
Keep and enhance the beauty of the naturally wooded environment by various means.
Maintain and improve the natural and new landscaping by weeding, planting, pruning, and mulching.
Maintain planted and natural fields, trails, and open spaces.
Upkeep of drives, paths, and event areas.
Trim grounds and prune shrubs and trees as needed.
Monitor property for safety hazards, fallen limbs, flooding, or erosion.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of structures, fences, and decks.
Operate and maintain hand & power equipment (mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.).
Maintain cleanliness of outdoor gathering spaces and rest areas.
Perform seasonal clean-up work including storm prep/response.
Assist with event setup, teardown, and on-site support as needed.
Collaborate with Park Manager and on-site team to prioritize tasks and projects.
Additional tasks as needed, including assisting with groundskeeping at The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium.
Qualifications
Familiarity with native plants, trees, and sustainable land care preferred.
Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related fields.
Basic knowledge of general maintenance work (carpentry, minor electrical, etc.).
Comfortable operating and maintaining small machinery and tools.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation.
Schedule
In this position, you must be available to work full-time. Candidates should have a flexible schedule with both weekday, evening, and weekend availability.
Pay Range
While the exact pay offered reflects a candidate’s qualifications and experience, the general range for this position is $14-15 per hour.
