- Most positions are physically active (walking, raking, bending, kneeling, lifting); some roles may offer less physical work; read announcements carefully.
Park housing and RV parking are not available for this area.
Role specifics
This recruitment will fill multiple non-permanent Park Aide positions in the Central Whidbey Area (Fort Casey, Fort Ebey, South Whidbey State Parks). Most positions are 3–5 months, starting March–June. Vacancies and housing vary by park. Typical schedule is around 40 hours per week, with possible less-than-full-time opportunities during the period. If interested in less than 40 hours per week, indicate this in the supplemental questions of the application.
This position is not eligible for telework due to required on-site presence.
Job requirements and competencies
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age 17 years.
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license. If your driver’s license is out of state (except WA), you must show proof of a valid unrestricted license at interview.

QUALIFICATION:
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
- JOB SPECIFIC
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to learn and interpret park rules, area information, and local history to educate visitors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with organization and clear communication.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.
- Ability to perform general maintenance and janitorial tasks, including use of chemicals.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods and work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; ability to learn equipment servicing and maintenance.
Uniforms and attire
Non-permanent Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. They receive two shirts, one baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75 per calendar year; some positions may include a $150 clothing stipend depending on length of the position.
