Role Description The Owner at AQUA is a full-time, on-site leadership role located in Chimoio, responsible for overseeing the agency’s strategic direction, operational performance, and regulatory compliance. This role involves setting organizational priorities, guiding environmental quality initiatives, and ensuring that programs align with national laws and local needs. The Owner will lead and mentor management teams, approve major projects and budgets, and represent AQUA in meetings with government authorities, partner organizations, and community stakeholders. Daily responsibilities include reviewing environmental reports and metrics, making decisions on policy implementation, coordinating cross-functional teams, and addressing complex environmental and organizational challenges. The Owner is also expected to foster a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement across all departments.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and organizational management skills, including experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex programs.
- Background in environmental science, environmental engineering, public policy, or a related field, with practical knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
- Advanced strategic planning and decision-making abilities, with experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term organizational development.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with government bodies, community groups, and private sector partners.
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and building collaborative partnerships for environmental initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline is strongly preferred; equivalent professional experience in environmental governance or regulatory agencies will be considered.
- High ethical standards and commitment to environmental protection, public service, and transparent governance.
- Ability to work on-site in Chimoio and adapt to local institutional, cultural, and environmental contexts.
