Role Description The Owner role at UBA Zambia is a full-time, on-site position based in Lusaka, responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight across the bank’s operations. The role involves setting vision and long-term goals, guiding digital innovation and product development, and ensuring that business strategies align with regulatory requirements and market opportunities. Daily tasks include reviewing financial performance, monitoring risk and compliance reports, engaging with senior leadership teams, and making high-level decisions on investments, partnerships, and expansion initiatives. The Owner will also represent the bank in key stakeholder engagements, including regulatory bodies, investors, major clients, and community partners, while fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and customer focus. Collaboration with executive management to drive operational excellence, talent development, and sustainable profitability is central to this position.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in banking, financial services, or a closely related industry, with a track record of overseeing complex business operations.
- Strong strategic planning, business development, and decision-making skills, with the ability to define and execute long-term growth strategies.
- Solid understanding of digital banking, financial technology, and innovation trends, particularly within African and international markets.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management, regulatory frameworks, corporate governance, and compliance in the financial sector.
- Exceptional financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, asset management, profitability analysis, and capital allocation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain high-level relationships.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, drive organizational change, and cultivate a collaborative, performance-focused culture.
- Relevant advanced education such as a degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MBA) are highly beneficial.
- Prior experience operating in or overseeing businesses in Zambia or the broader African region is an added advantage.
