We are looking for Overnight Veterinary Assistants to care for animals and be an active member of our team. Full-time assistants are needed. Successful candidates must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow- through, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking is essential and punctuality is expected
Responsibilities
Treat each patient with the highest level of compassion & care.
Perform basic nursing care tasks, patient monitoring, and treatments.
Consistent Monitoring of hospitalized patients.
Set-up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy including constant rate infusions and blood transfusion therapy.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Remain current on CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
Clean cages and walk animals
Sterilize equipment, maintain laundry and clean examination tables and rooms
Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
Keep accurate records and logs Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot oxygen cages and other oxygen administration techniques.
Skills
Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
Excellent communication skills
Patient and caring personality
Ability to follow instructions properly
Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles etc.)
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
Hourly rate $19-$21.
Not available for remote work.

Experience:
Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
