Overnight Pet-Care Assistant (Kennel Attendant) Jobs in Farmingdale, NJ at Barnside Veterinary Hospital
Seeking full-time or part-time employment applicants for an overnight position caring for boarding and/or hospitalized pets. Must be available from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM at least one night per week.
Must be able to work unsupervised in a responsible, productive manner. Must be capable in two broad areas: animal care and clerical.
BOARDING PETS: Comfort and care in handling, feeding, walking and administering oral medications to a variety of sizes, breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats. Cleaning runs and cages: cleaning up urine, feces, vomit, saliva, wiping down run doors, walls, beds. Appropriate charting and record keeping.
HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS: Ability or willingness to learn how to care for ill patients, monitoring parameters and changes in status, administer injections, operate IV fluid pumps and other equipment, care for IV fluid lines.
HOSPITAL MAINTENANCE: Laundry, vacuuming, mopping, collecting trash, recycling, and other “light” housekeeping chores.
DICTATIONS: Ability to listen to dictated medical notations and accurately transcribe them into computer system. Requires good computer typing skills, good general spelling/grammar, ability to learn appropriate medical terminology.
DATA ENTRY: “Attaching” in with appropriate “tags” various scanned documents and medical forms. Requires familiarity and competence with basic computer skills, attention to detail, ability to follow protocols.
