Job Description

The Test Technician provides hands‑on technical support to engineering staff by testing equipment in outdoor environments. This is a seasonal, based‑role perfect for a summer job for an engineering student. The position requires someone who works independently, communicates clearly, and maintains a professional and pleasant demeanor while collaborating with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to engineering team members by supporting equipment testing activities.
  • Set up, operate, and test landscape and related equipment in outdoor field conditions.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and operational issues that arise during field testing.
  • Document test procedures, observations, and results with clear and accurate administrative records.
  • Follow assigned tasks independently and manage daily workload with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and best practices while operating equipment outdoors.
  • Communicate test findings, issues, and progress to the engineering team in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adjust work activities based on weather conditions and testing schedules as directed.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical inclination and comfort working with equipment and tools.
  • Experience operating landscape equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with team members and stakeholders.
  • General understanding of engineering or technical concepts related to equipment testing.

Work Environment

This is a seasonal, full‑time role working approximately 40 hours per week in an outdoor field testing environment. The technician works primarily outside operating and testing landscape and related equipment under real‑world conditions. Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather; for example, work is typically paused when it rains, and there may be opportunities to make up hours as needed.

The role involves hands‑on work with equipment, following safety practices, and adapting to changing outdoor conditions throughout the season.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 – $20.00 per hour.
