Ophthalmology Veterinary Assistant
We are looking for a collaborative and driven individual to join our clinical team.
Proposed
Schedule:
Monday‑Thursday 7:30 a‑5:30 p or Mon‑Fri 8 a‑5 p.
What You’ll Do:
- Prioritize caseload and patient care and prepare and check charts for appropriate paperwork.
- Obtain vitals and perform ocular testing.
- Prepare, call in or create written prescriptions.
- Know various routes of drug administration and can calculate and administer injections and fluids.
- Monitor anesthesia—placing monitoring equipment, evaluating values, and manually monitoring patients when necessary.
- Provide pre‑ and post‑surgical patient care and recovery.
- Maintain the surgical OR, equipment, and instruments—including cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, and organizing.
- Participate in rotational weekly on‑call shifts.
- Provide rotational support at the Dallas location.
Who Are You?
- Prior veterinary experience required; ophthalmology experience desired.
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant‑rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
- Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Critical‑thinking skills with the ability to anticipate departmental needs.
- Ability to stay on task and work energetically for the entire shift, sometimes up to 10 hours per day.
- Eager to learn more about diseases and medications specific to ophthalmology.
