Position Overview:
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the overall operations of the
dairy farm while ensuring optimum animal health, productivity, operational efficiency, and
regulatory compliance. As a qualified Veterinary Doctor, the Operations Manager oversees
livestock health management, breeding programs, milk production, farm resources, and staff
performance to achieve the organization's production and quality objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
Operations Management
-Plan, organize, supervise, and continuously improve all day-to-day farm operations.
– Develop and implement operational plans to achieve production and performance targets.
-Oversee maintenance of farm buildings, machinery, equipment, and utilities.
– Ensure proper housing, ventilation, sanitation, clean water, and comfortable living
conditions for livestock.
-Monitor feed availability, feeding schedules, and pasture management.

-Supervise milk production activities to ensure efficiency, hygiene, and compliance with
food safety standards.
– Ensure proper storage, handling, and transportation of milk while maintaining quality
standards.
-Implement operational improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operational
costs.
Animal Health and Veterinary Coordination
-Lead and oversee all animal health and welfare programs across the farm.
– Diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and injuries in livestock.
– Develop and implement preventive healthcare programs, including vaccination,
deworming, and biosecurity protocols.
-Monitor breeding, artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, calving, and neonatal calf
management.
-Ensure accurate veterinary records, treatment logs, mortality records, and herd health
documentation.
-Monitor herd productivity and recommend strategies to improve milk production and
animal performance.
– Ensure compliance with national veterinary regulations and animal welfare standards.
Financial Management
-Prepare and monitor departmental budgets.
-Control operational expenditures while maintaining productivity.
– Monitor feed costs, veterinary expenses, maintenance costs, labor costs, and other
operational expenses.
– Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
– Prepare cost analyses and recommend improvement initiatives.
People Management
Communication and Coordination
– Coordinate and maintain effective communication between all farm departments to
ensure smooth daily operations.
-Maintain effective communication among all operational teams.
-Liaise with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders as
required.
-Ensure compliance with all applicable livestock, food safety, environmental, and labor
regulations.
Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and submit daily farm operational reports.
Submit weekly reports on animal health, milk production, breeding activities, mortality,
feed consumption, manpower, and maintenance.
Prepare comprehensive monthly reports covering operational KPIs, veterinary activities,
financial performance, production targets, compliance status, and improvement plans for
management review.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
– Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and ethical farming practices.
– Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
-Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
– Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity, quality, safety, and
cost efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
Task Related
Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) / Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent Veterinary degree recognized in Nepal.
-Must be registered with the Nepal Veterinary Council (NVC).
-Minimum 3–4 years of professional experience as a Veterinary Doctor in dairy farming,
commercial livestock farms, or large-scale animal production operations.
