Role Description The Open Field Farm Worker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ado Ekiti. The role involves preparing and maintaining crop fields, including land clearing, planting, weeding, and irrigation support for peppers, tomatoes, citrus fruits, maize, and cassava. Daily tasks include assisting with harvesting, sorting, and packing produce, as well as basic care activities for livestock such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal wellbeing under supervision. Workers will operate and maintain basic farm tools and equipment safely, follow instructions from supervisors, and adhere to farm safety and hygiene standards. The position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions, collaborating with other team members, and supporting general farm upkeep activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Practical experience or strong interest in working on farms and in agriculture-related activities.
- Ability to perform harvesting tasks, including manual picking, sorting, and basic quality checks for field crops.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn livestock care practices for species such as goats, sheep, catfish, snails, and grass cutters.
- Familiarity with or aptitude for using farm equipment and tools safely, and following maintenance and safety guidelines.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work on-site in Ado Ekiti and outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Previous farm or agricultural experience is an advantage but not required; training can be provided for motivated candidates.
