Role Description The Online Tutor will provide live, interactive tutoring sessions to school-age learners, using digital platforms and resources to support their academic progress and cultural connection. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning lessons, delivering instruction aligned with curriculum standards, assigning and reviewing practice work, and offering constructive feedback to learners. The tutor will communicate regularly with parents or guardians to share progress updates and adjust learning plans as needed. Additional tasks include maintaining accurate records of sessions, collaborating with the team to enhance learning materials, and staying current with best practices in online education. This is a full-time role, on-site, based in Kathmandu, with work conducted primarily in a dedicated tutoring center using online tools to reach learners abroad.

Qualifications

  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in core academic areas such as mathematics, science, English, and social studies, with the ability to teach multiple grade levels.
  • Skills in online teaching methods, including using video conferencing tools, digital whiteboards, and interactive learning platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and build trust with learners and families.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity, especially regarding Nepali and Nepali-American contexts, and an interest in helping learners stay connected to their heritage.
  • Ability to plan lessons, organize instructional materials, and manage time effectively in a structured full-time schedule.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Social Sciences, or a related field; teaching certification or prior tutoring/teaching experience is highly beneficial.
  • Comfort with using technology, stable computer skills, and willingness to learn new educational tools and platforms.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and commitment to learner-centered, inclusive, and non-discriminatory educational practices.
