I Will Stand International is a Christian organization founded in 2012 that works to rescue, restore, equip, and empower vulnerable women and children around the world.  The majority of work is currently focused in Rwanda with efforts to identify vulnerable people in need of immediate help or rescue from desperate and dire situations and working through a process to restore their lives through Christ’s redemptive power, giving them the basic necessities to live, educating and equipping with trainings, knowledge, schooling and/or vocational training, and empowering them to stand strong and independent while beginning to work on giving back and empowering others.

 

Job Purpose

To manage the Little Lights ECD operations and provide targeted teaching to nursery students in Little Lights ECD.

Representation

Represent IWSI and the Education Department at any event or with any government entity that requires representation from this position in the Gashora sector. 

ECD Teacher’s Responsibilities 

• The  ECD Teacher is responsible for collaborating with the Country Director to establish any identified processes and/or procedures for this newly developed role and position. 
• The ECD Teacher is responsible for overseeing and managing the learning initiatives with the students including but not limited to setting learning goals, organizing learning activities, building confidence and motivating students, and tracking progress in the classroom.
• Complete weekly reports/assessments on the progress of each child in an effort to track improvement and program effectiveness. 
• Teaching mixed ability students.
• Using a variety of teaching methods and developing individual structured teaching plans, tailored to the student’s needs and learning styles.
• Preparing learning resources and assisting students in their use.
• Establishing good working relationships with students, parents, and ECD Teachers.
• Setting goals so students can achieve learning objectives, improving their knowledge and confidence in the subject.
• Giving clear feedback to students about their progress.
• Using computer programmes to reinforce learning.
• Dealing promptly with any incidents and promoting good behaviors.
• Undertaking administrative tasks.
• Upholding policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and confidentiality.

Funding and Grants Management

• IWSI funding comes directly from donors and grants. The ECD Teacher will collaborate with staff members on any and all information needed to fulfill requests needed for donor seeking and support as well as grant management. This includes photos and/or videos.

Financial management

• The ECD Teacher will submit all supply and material requests to the admin and finance assistant. Due to IWSI being a nonprofit, requests outside of the approved budget are filled as support is raised.
• The ECD Teacher will submit all receipts for any items purchased with IWSI funds to the Country Director. 

Information, Communication and Learning

• Ensure communication is received in a timely manner by the person requesting information.
• Ensure all reports are received by the stated deadlines.
• Ensure that personal skills pertaining to the job are staying sharp.
• Be open to learning new ideas and skills that can be implemented into the course of learning.
• Look for opportunities for personal growth as well as the growth of other ECD Teachers.
• Always communicate in a way that is firm but encouraging and uplifting. Our communication should be a reflection of our relationship with the Lord.

Relationships with Others

• The ECD Teacher will work directly with the Children Programs Officer. As the program grows, additional team members may be added to this program. The ECD Teacher also may be required to work with foreign visitors who have an interest in helping students on visits. 

Accountability

• Supervision: Works under the direct supervision of the IWSI Rwanda – Country Director and within approved strategy and policy guidelines
• Decision Making: The ECD Teacher is able to plan learning objectives and lessons for all students.
• Responsibility over assets: Responsible for all oversight of equipment and materials at Little Lights ECD. Responsible for ensuring there is limited waste and all materials are used as effectively and efficiently as possible. Responsible for keeping an inventory of all equipment and supplies and updating the admin and finance assistant on any equipment wear and tear and the rate at which materials are used. Responsible for making sure the equipment is cared for and respected by the students. Responsible for making sure that the ECD materials are not utilized for personal use by staff or students.
