Position Information

Starting salary: $32.27/hour ($67,351/year) and a competitive total compensation package!
From neighborhood playgrounds to large open space preserves, Sonoma County Regional Parks includes more than 50 parks and beaches, miles of trails, marinas, and wild landscapes. As a Natural Resources Maintenance Worker II, you will have the opportunity to work on conservation and restoration projects across Sonoma County’s natural landscapes!

Key Responsibilities

Pruning, felling, and removing trees including constructing shaded fuel breaks

Managing invasive and non-native plants

Installing and maintaining fences

Cutting, removing, and maintaining vegetation, and restoring habitats

Maintaining and repairing equipment

Using power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, and string trimmers

Participating in broadcast burning and pile burning

Ideal Candidate Qualities

Two or more years of experience in natural resources management, construction, or park maintenance

Experience with chainsaws, pole saws, and other hand tools

Knowledge of Sonoma County’s ecosystems

Ability to follow safety rules and work independently or with a team

Strong navigation skills for rugged terrain

Effective communication skills with the public

Leadership skills for training staff

Knowledge of field and mapping techniques

Additional Requirements

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license, working outdoors in all weather, and willingness to work occasional weekends.
