As we continue expanding globally, we are looking for an Events & Operations Manager to lead the planning and execution of high-impact events while ensuring smooth day-to-day operational excellence across our programs in Kenya.
About the Role
The Events & Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of student, corporate, and community events while managing operational logistics to deliver an exceptional participant experience.
This role requires someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has exceptional organizational skills, and can manage multiple stakeholders, vendors, and projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute workshops, conferences, networking events, industry visits, boot camps, orientation programs, graduation ceremonies, and community engagement events.
- Develop detailed event plans, timelines, budgets, and execution checklists.
- Coordinate venue selection, catering, transportation, accommodation, branding, AV requirements, and event logistics.
- Ensure every event delivers a premium participant experience aligned with Masters’ Union standards.
- Manage on-ground event execution and troubleshoot operational issues in real time.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operational activities supporting academic and non-academic programs.
- Develop and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Coordinate with internal teams including academics, admissions, student success, marketing, finance, and leadership.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, reports, and event calendars.
- Monitor budgets and ensure cost-effective execution without compromising quality.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Identify, onboard, and manage vendors, suppliers, venues, and external partners.
- Negotiate commercial terms and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Coordinate with speakers, corporate partners, government agencies, universities, and community organizations where required.
Student Experience
- Ensure a seamless participant journey before, during, and after every event.
- Manage registrations, communications, attendance tracking, and feedback collection.
- Continuously improve the overall student and guest experience based on feedback and operational insights.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Prepare event reports, operational dashboards, and post-event analyses with key recommendations.
- Track KPIs related to event success, participant engagement, budgets, and operational performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Event Management, Operations, or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in events, operations, hospitality, education, consulting, or community management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale events from planning through execution.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience working with budgets, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems proactively.
- High ownership mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, project management tools, and event management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, EdTech, consulting, startups, or hospitality.
- Experience managing corporate events or executive programs.
- Familiarity with CRM or event registration platforms.
- Experience working in multicultural or international environments.
