Position Duties and Scope:
Undertake laboratory activities which may include but are not limited to cleaning, labelling, weighing, bulking, sample preparation, digestion, fusing, instrument operation, classical methods, completing jobs/runs for subsequent procedures with complete and confident ability with no supervision
Apply time management skills so that routine laboratory activities are conducted in a safe, accurate and timely manner
Attendance and completion of site and online training when required.
Commence training and participation in area specific bench and/or pilot scale testwork in the main production laboratories
Confidently mentor and train less experienced technicians in metallurgical techniques
Contribute to the achievement of project/shift priorities, routine test work and QC tasks
Liaise directly with professional Metallurgical staff on specific projects and if required, clients
Provide leadership and laboratory administrative tasks as required
Position Requirements:
Possess a wide knowledge and extensive experience in Metallurgical laboratory testing practices
High degree of initiative in relation to improvement and productivity in laboratory operations
Acquired and demonstrated full competency to work independently and in teams on a range of area specific competencies of the main Metallurgical production laboratories
High level of numerical, communication, organizational, time and record keeping skills
High level of attention to detail, highly motivated and an ability to problem solve
A moderate level of computer literacy
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
A high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
