We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Medical Supervisor to join our shelter team.

The Medical Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our shelter animals by supporting our Shelter Veterinarian, overseeing daily medical operations, and providing leadership and training to staff and volunteers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Medical Support

· Assist the Shelter Veterinarian with surgeries, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring (as qualified), surgical assistance, recovery, and post-operative care.

· Perform and assist with routine medical procedures including blood draws, vaccinations, diagnostics, treatments, and medication administration.

· Monitor and oversee the medical needs of all shelter animals, ensuring timely treatment and high standards of care.

· Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with shelter protocols.

· Voucher program support.

Clinic Operations

· Manage clinic inventory, including ordering and maintaining medical supplies, medications, and equipment.

· Develop and coordinate the Shelter Veterinarian’s weekly schedule to maximize efficiency and ensure quality medical care for shelter animals.

· Respond to emails and phone calls related to medical operations, scheduling, and communications.

· Help maintain a clean, organized, and compliant medical facility.

Leadership & Training

· Supervise and train clinic volunteers, ensuring they understand shelter protocols and medical procedures appropriate to their roles.

· Train Animal Care staff on medical procedures, animal intakes, medication administration, disease prevention, and best practices.

· Serve as the operational supervisor for Animal Care staff as needed, providing leadership and support in partnership with the Operations Manager. This could include kennel cleaning and general animal care duties as needed.

· Foster a collaborative, positive, and mission-driven team environment.

Qualifications

Required:

· Experience working in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or similar medical setting.

· Comfortable assisting with surgeries, blood draws, handling medical equipment, and working with animals requiring medical treatment.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

· Passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing compassionate care.

Preferred:

· Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience.

· Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) is a plus but not required.

· Experience working in an animal shelter or animal welfare environment.

· Experience supervising staff or volunteers.

· Familiarity with shelter medicine and animal care.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.

· Comfortable working with animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions.

Compensation: $19.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
