Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced person to take on the position of a veterinary assistant/technician lead. The actual position duties will be determined by experience, with continuing education and training to develop the lead in order to take on all of the duties of this position. This will be a job that requires a full time schedule, with 4 days worked 8am-5pm and one day worked 8am-1pm. We are not open on the weekends and there are no after-hours duties/responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and at least a strong background as a veterinary assistant or technician if not experience as a practice manager. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, a commitment to providing high-quality care, and the ability to foster a positive environment for both staff and clients. Some other required characteristics are honesty, attention to detail, reliability, and a desire to improve the practice, the staff, and themselves.
Duties – assignment dependent on experience
Direct flow of rooms, triage, surgery and other procedures
Manage staff schedules, breaks, and time off
Develop and implement training programs and schedules
Inventory management
Enforce hospital medical and administrative protocols
Ensure compliance with all regulations and standards related to veterinary practices; specifically AAHA standards and inspections
Maintain a safe environment for animals and staff by adhering to safety protocols.
Schedule/Training
Initial onboarding will require a schedule of M-F 8-5pm with 1 hour lunch. Training will be constructed based on experience and will be lead by the practice owner and the practice managers from a sister clinic. As training progresses, the work schedule may change and the standard schedule will begin. Training will last as long as it takes to become independently proficient in the areas outlined upon hiring.
Training will depend on experience and duties being assigned. As training is completed and continues to develop, eventually more duties may be added.
Qualifications
Experience in lead roles or significant experience as a veterinary assistant/technician
Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine including basic care, laboratory services, triage, surgery, dental, and various other products and procedures/services.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously as well as a practical ability to efficiently delegate.
Exceptional communication skills for interacting with clients, staff, and external partners.

Pay: $17.00 – $25.00 per hour
