About the R&R Center
The R&R Center in Pawling, NY is a unique program dedicated to providing integrated sheltering, behavioral, and medical care for canine victims of cruelty. The team works closely with ASPCA teams in New York City to help animals rescued in partnership with the NYPD.
Location & Schedule
This position is on-site at the Recovery & Rehabilitation Center in Pawling, NY.
Work schedule:
7am-7pm, including at least one weekend day. Ability to work a flexible schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays as program needs determine is required. Schedules are subject to change at the sole discretion of the ASPCA.
Travel:
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of time.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: Target hiring range $68,000 – $73,000 annually. Starting pay depends on education, training, experience, location, and other factors. May increase beyond the maximum based on performance.

Responsibilities
- Maintain working knowledge of all Care & Enrichment daily protocols; collaborate with Senior Director, Operations, Senior Manager, and other Managers to ensure protocols are clear and up-to-date.
- Maintain working knowledge of all relevant regulatory requirements; keep accurate records of compliance.
- Oversee cleaning and prepping of animal holding area, enrichment provision, feeding, and watering.
- Arrange daily animal care and enrichment tasks to optimize workflow.
- Provide consistent floor management and assist Care & Enrichment Technicians as needed.
- Assist in training and overseeing volunteers handling animals.
- Collaborate with behavior and veterinary teams for open communication and high-quality care.
- Problem‑solve daily issues with Care & Enrichment Technicians.
- Provide feedback to Senior Manager, Care & Enrichment to improve processes.
- Contribute to development and refinement of daily care & enrichment SOPs.
- Audit data entered by Technicians for accuracy and legal compliance.
- Assist with animal movement choreography for low‑stress transitions.
- Perform repeated daily checks of animal areas, cleaning, feeding, enrichment, or delegate appropriately.
- Hold team huddles to assess progress, support, and adjust schedule.
- Develop, implement, and manage equipment and supply organization.
- Monitor inventory conditions and request supplies before depletion.
- Perform daily rounds to ensure proper enclosure use and safety concerns.
People Management
- Explain protocols to Technicians to gain buy‑in.
- Serve as active floor lead, monitor workflow, and offer real‑time support.
- Oversee the team’s cleaning, handling, enrichment, monitoring, and documentation.
- Provide regular training updates.
- Assist in daily care and protocol adherence.
- Give prompt and constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and set clear goals.
- Address conflict and concerns promptly and respectfully.
- Delegate for employee growth.
- Monitor and evaluate performance with coaching and formal appraisals.
- Evaluate staffing and training needs; communicate to Senior Director.
- Recognize team accomplishments and foster engagement.
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Participate in relevant R&R Center and ASPCA meetings.
- Track and report time worked, time off, and expenses.
- Review time‑off requests and weekly hours for Technicians.
- Steward R&R Center assets responsibly.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required; B.S. or B.A. preferred.
