FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Function: Mow, trim, prune, mulch, seed, fertilize, and weed assigned grounds. General knowledge of safe use of mowers. Working knowledge of maintenance of lawn equipment and tools.
Working Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor work environment.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors.
Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and read a variety of printed and coded materials.
Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditions.
Lifting up to 40lbs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, have dependable transportation, and maintain a good driving record.
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Maintain all equipment and tools.
Safely load, unload, and secure all equipment, tools, and other items for transport.
Mow, trim, prune, mulch, seed, fertilize, weed, and maintain the grounds’ aesthetic appearance.
Apply pre-emergent, herbicides, and pesticides appropriately.
Pick up and deliver a variety of items including furniture, equipment, supplies, and waste materials.
Deliver equipment and materials to warehouse facilities as requested; tag, shelve, and store items appropriately.
Prepare and mark fields and related areas.
Communicate problems/concerns with equipment to the appropriate manager/supervisor.
Make recommendations to improve job performance and/or equipment reliability.
Work without constant supervision.
Complete all assigned work orders including special projects.
Maintain all tools and equipment used in job performance.
Maintain a clean work site.
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner, obtaining proper signatures.
Estimate time, material, and supply needs for assigned jobs.
Maintain routine records related to assigned activities.
Report safety hazards that affect the welfare of students and district employees immediately.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
