Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Locum role based at Vitaldent Dental Surgery in Bulawayo. The Locum will provide general dental care to adult and paediatric patients, including examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative procedures, and basic oral surgery where required. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring adherence to infection control and safety protocols, and collaborating with the dental team to deliver consistent, high-quality patient care. The Locum will communicate clearly with patients and caregivers about treatment options, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions, while contributing to a compassionate and professional practice environment.
Qualifications
- Recognized dental degree and current professional registration or eligibility to register with the relevant dental council or authority.
- Demonstrated experience in general dentistry, including examinations, restorative procedures, and basic oral surgery for adults.
- Experience or strong interest in paediatric dentistry, with the ability to work effectively and sensitively with children and their caregivers.
- Solid knowledge of infection control standards, clinical safety protocols, and evidence-based dental practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain treatment plans clearly and build trust with diverse patients.
- Strong organizational skills, accurate record-keeping, and attention to detail in clinical documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary dental team and adapt to different clinical workflows as a locum.
- Commitment to compassionate, non-discriminatory patient care and adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Prior experience in a busy dental surgery setting and familiarity with dental practice management software are advantageous.
