Project description
Dansom is seeking an expert to support one of its Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) projects in Somalia in the area of livestock, market systems and private-sector development. The work involves independent data collection and monitoring, engagement with private-sector stakeholders, and supervision of field teams.
Job description
The expert will provide technical and operational support for assignments involving livestock, market systems and private-sector development. The exact scope of work will depend on project needs.
The expert will:
- Support data collection and monitoring for assigned sub-projects involving livestock, market systems or private-sector development.
- Engage relevant private-sector stakeholders to obtain information required for the assignment.
- Supervise field teams undertaking data collection and monitoring activities and ensure that assignment requirements are followed.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams and review field information for completeness and consistency.
- Support capacity-building activities for project partners, based on assignment needs.
- Travel to any part of Somalia for field assignments, including for extended periods when required.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Livestock Production, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in livestock, market systems and/or private-sector development.
- Experience in data collection and monitoring, field-team supervision and private-sector stakeholder engagement.
- Ability and willingness to travel across Somalia for extended periods when required.
Languages
- Ability to work in Somali and English.
