Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Licensed Veterinary Technician, Surgery to join our dynamic veterinary team. In this vital role, you will provide expert surgical assistance and animal care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, comfort, and medical excellence. Your expertise will support a wide range of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to complex orthopedic surgeries, all while maintaining a compassionate approach to pet care. Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by preparing surgical instruments, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring an aseptic environment
  • Monitor anesthesia administration and vital signs using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment to ensure patient safety throughout surgery
  • Perform vascular access procedures such as IV insertion and animal catheterization for medication delivery and fluid therapy
  • Handle animals with care using proper restraint techniques, ensuring minimal stress and optimal safety for both pets and staff
  • Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic radiology, and other diagnostic procedures to support surgical cases
  • Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary software, documenting procedures, medications administered, and patient progress
  • Assist with pet grooming, dental terminology understanding, pet care education for clients, and post-operative recovery support

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician with a focus on surgical assistance in a veterinary setting
  • Kennel experience and animal husbandry knowledge to ensure proper handling and care before and after surgery
  • Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices, emergency medicine protocols, and intensive care procedures
  • Hands-on experience operating medical equipment such as radiology devices (X-ray), laboratory analyzers, and anesthesia machines
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and general anesthesia techniques
  • Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, pet grooming, pet training basics, and animal care best practices
  • Prior experience working with veterinary software systems for record keeping and diagnostics
