Licensed Veterinary Technician – Critical Care Jobs in Traverse City, Michigan, USA at California Veterinary Hospital
At Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in vibrant Downtown Manhattan, NY, we’re seeking a passionate and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamicCritical Care team.
* This position offers up to a $10k sign-on bonus*
Pay: $28.00 – $51.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials (see below)
This pay band depends on experience and progression through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation aligned with their experience.
We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:
Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr.
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr.
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr.
As a Veterinary Technician, you will:
Triage emergency cases arriving at the hospital, following them from ER treatment to ICU admission.
Perform anesthesia for minor procedures like bite wound repairs and lacerations.
Perform digital radiography, utilizing sedation and other restraint/positioning techniques.
Monitor patients’ vital signs to identify those at risk for arrest.
Have the opportunity to be certified in BLS and ALS RECOVER CPR at no cost.
Calculate medical math, including CRIs, and administer medications appropriately.
Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
Learn to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Mentor and train colleagues.
Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year for CVTs and $750/year for VTSs, with rollover options. Non-Credentialed full-time paraprofessionals receive a $150 annual stipend. Full-time CVT and VTS associates also receive paid CE hours annually, with rollover options up to 24 hours. Newly hired associates receive a pro-rated CE benefit.
