Role Description The Licensed Veterinary Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Clifton Park, NY. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with exams and procedures, performing technical tasks such as blood draws, catheter placement, radiographs, and laboratory tests, and monitoring patients before, during, and after surgery. The role also involves administering medications and treatments, maintaining accurate medical records, supporting safe and effective anesthesia, and ensuring clean, organized treatment and surgery areas. The technician will provide client education on pet care, preventive medicine, and post-operative instructions, while contributing to a supportive, efficient hospital workflow.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including handling, restraint, and monitoring of patients.
  • Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, such as laboratory diagnostics, imaging, medication administration, and record-keeping.
  • Experience with Anesthesiology, including patient preparation, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and recovery care.
  • Ability to deliver clear, empathetic Client Education on preventive care, treatment plans, and home care instructions.
  • Active veterinary technician license (LVT or equivalent) in New York State, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment and managing multiple patients and tasks.
  • Prior experience in small animal general practice or related veterinary settings is preferred.
