Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care for our animal patients. You will work closely with veterinarians and other staff members to ensure the health and well-being of animals in our care. This position requires a strong understanding of animal physiology, excellent handling skills, and the ability to perform various technical procedures.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed
Monitor animal patients during procedures and recovery
Provide proper restraint and handling of animals to ensure safety for both staff and patients
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and behavior
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment
Participate in kennel duties, including feeding, cleaning, and exercising animals
Skills
Proficient in dog handling techniques to ensure safe interactions with various breeds
Experience in animal catheterization for administering fluids or medications
Strong skills in animal restraint to facilitate examinations and treatments safely
Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices for emergency situations
Understanding of animal physiology to recognize signs of illness or distress
Familiarity with animal husbandry practices to promote overall health and welfare
Experience working in a kennel environment, including basic grooming tasks
Competence in general animal handling techniques for various species
Ability to perform laboratory tests such as blood draws or urinalysis
