Licensed Veterinary Technician Jobs in Monroe, WA at Pasado’s Safe Haven

The Pet Services Program at Pasado’s Safe Haven is focused on providing reduced cost spay/neuter

surgeries to populations who otherwise would not have access to this service, helping to prevent

shelter overpopulation and unnecessary euthanasia. We are looking for an LVT to work on our

mobile Spay Station in Snohomish County.

The current clinic schedule is Fridays at various locations

in Snohomish County (Sultan, Tulalip, Marysville, Everett) but are subject to change.

LVTs will work under the direction of the Veterinarian to provide high-quality care for patients

before, during, and after surgery and will supervise the daily activities of the assigned Veterinary

Assistants and volunteers. Clinic shifts for LVTs are generally 8-10 hours per clinic day, depending on

case load.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversee admission of patients into the clinic, confirm medical history, and perform physical assessments prior to surgery.

Under supervision of the Veterinarian administer medications, anesthesia drugs, and prepare animals for surgery.

Monitor surgery patients from the induction of anesthesia until recovery; assess patient readiness for discharge and supervise patient discharges and communicate with clients regarding patient post-surgery care.

Supervise daily cleaning routines and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Enforce and adhere to established clinic procedures and provide general supervision to unregistered assistants.

Maintain controlled drug recordkeeping and reporting.

Promote the humane care and treatment of animals at all times.

Be respectful of co-workers and treat clients, volunteers, and patients in a professional manner.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Must be licensed by the State of Washington as a Veterinary Technician.

Must have 2+ years of experience in a veterinary setting; 1 year of experience in high-volume spay/neuter setting is preferred.

Have exceptional communication skills; be willing and able to work effectively and compassionately with all personality types from all walks of life.

Be professional, positive, and remain calm during stressful situations.

Be comfortable working at a fast pace as well as standing on your feet for long stretches of time.

Must have passion for animal welfare and compassion for all animals, with the drive and devotion to end pet over-population and the over-crowding in area shelters.

Possess exceptional organizational skills – attention to detail and ability to prioritize are a must.

Must be driven to meet/exceed goals, be a self-starter, able to prioritize effectively, excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to write legibly.

Be able to lift 40lbs. and stand for long periods of time.

Contract Details:

Contract, 8-10 hours per week, Tuesdays or Fridays.

Contract position- pay range $28-35 DOE.
