What You’ll Do:
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in New York State, your role is vital in ensuring the best care for our patients while supporting our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include:
Medical & Surgical Assistance:
Administer and prepare medications as prescribed by veterinarians
Induce and maintain anesthesia under the direct supervision of a veterinarian
Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
Assist with surgical procedures and dentistry
Place IV catheters and perform blood draws
Diagnostic & Laboratory Duties:
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
Perform in-house diagnostic tests (hematology, urinalysis, cytology, etc.)
Expose and develop radiographic (X-ray) images
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
Patient Care & Hospital Support:
Monitor hospitalized patients and log vital signs
Provide post-operative and general patient care
Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and post-care
Assist with restraint and handling of animals during exams and procedures
Admit and discharge patients, ensuring clients are informed and supported
Pharmacy & Client Communication:
Process and log prescription refills (in-house, call-out pharmacy, and online orders)
Educate pet owners on medications, nutrition, and preventive care
Provide compassionate client communication and follow-ups
Facility & Team Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hospital
Ensure equipment and instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use
Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
Avimark Software knowledge a plus
What We’re Looking For:
Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) preferred
A team player with excellent communication and multitasking skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods
A passion for animal care and client education
