Compensation:Day and overnight rates (starting at $110 /day and $150/overnight); hourly rates (starting at $20 an hour) depending on experience

Job Summary:

The Lead Raft Guide position is responsible for one to five-day whitewater rafting trips on class I-V rivers for people with disabilities. The Lead Raft Guide will be responsible for leading groups of up to twenty-five, while also supervising raft guides. Raft guides will work in a team to facilitate all aspects of the trip experience, including trip preparation, river guiding, facilitation of activities, environmentaleducation, and trip de-rigging.

This is a full-time position with a requirement to commit to the season that runs from late April through the end of September.

Leads river guides and volunteers in providing high-quality river trips.

Coaches guides in proper river rafting skills, policies and procedures, trip leading, and trip planning.

Leads paddle and oar rig crews rafts through class I-III rapids on sections of the Green and Colorado rivers including but not limited to;
The Fisher Towers, Ruby/Horsethief, Desolation Canyon, Westwater Canyon.

Leads instructional talks regarding safety and leave no trace camping techniques.

Teaches participants about the natural and human history of the Colorado Plateau and Colorado River.

Ensures that trips utilize above par safety procedures.

Provides strong customer service while collecting all pertinent information from participants.

Assists with food packing, preparation, clean up, food inventory, menu planning, food purchasing, and food packing.

Organizes, maintains, and helps repair program equipment.

Performs necessary repairs on all program equipment including, but not limited to motors, rafts, frames, pumps, and oars.

Helps plan and implement trip programs to meet the needs/desires and goals of our participants.

Adapts equipment to enable participants with special needs to fully participate.

Leads trip rigging and de-rigging.

Drives and helps maintain trucks with trailers.

Assists in trip preparation, planning, implementation, and follow-up.

Attends outreach and special events when necessary.

Other duties as identi?ed.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 2 years of experience guiding Class III+ whitewater (with preferred experience on Westwater, Desolation Canyon and Cataract Canyon).

Must be able to start no later than April 24, 2025 and work until the end of September 2025.

Current Wilderness First Responder and CPR/AED (through ARC or AHA) certifications.

Current driver’s license with clean driving record.

Be able to maintain a Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) physical, paid for by the NAC.
