Job Overview
This position performs a variety of labor and customer service functions in various sub-departments within the Arts, Agriculture and Education Department. The lead position will direct exhibit attendants with clearly defined guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
Assist in the set-up, maintenance, and tear down of exhibits.
Perform manual labor involved in the set-up, installation and teardown of exhibits.
Clean and maintain exhibits, which may include using power tools, ladders and other equipment.
Assist and interact with guests to provide accurate information and assistance to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience.
Keep abreast of information to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses in person or on the phone.
Practice good physical work methods, utilize good work habits, and meet established production standards.
Keep scheduled commitments.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, goggles) and maintain a safe work environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
Assist with all aspects of the exhibit competition (if applicable).
Assist exhibitors with drop-off and pick up of entries (if applicable).
Ensure staff take their breaks and lunch.
May be asked to open or close the exhibit.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
Ability to lead work.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
Working Conditions
Work will include lots of time on your feet on concrete floors.
Lift objects up to 30 pounds. Push/pull heavy objects.
Exposure to farm animals, animal waste, dust, dirt, and unpleasant odors.
Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
