Job Title: Lead Animal Care Coordinator
Overview:
As the Lead for the Animal Lodging Department, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and nurturing environment for both our animal residents and our dedicated team of caretakers. This position requires a passionate individual who is not only well-versed in animal care but also possesses strong leadership skills to guide and inspire the team.
We primarily lodge dogs and cats, along with some small animals such as rabbits and ferrets.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
– Lead and motivate a team of animal caretakers to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.
– Foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous learning within the Lodging Department.
– Provide guidance and support to team members, encouraging professional development and growth.
– Oversee a team of 2-8 employees per shift
Animal Welfare:
– Oversee the daily care and well-being of resident animals, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
– Implement and maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within the lodging facilities.
– Monitor the health of animals and coordinate with veterinary staff when necessary.
– Administer medications as needed
– Assist as needed with Animal Caretaker responsibilities such as feeding, first and last walks, disinfecting rooms, etc.
Communication:
– Facilitate open and transparent communication within the team and across departments.
– Act as a liaison between the Lodging Department and other relevant departments to ensure seamless operations.
– Keep the team informed about organizational goals, updates, and changes.
Culture Building:
– Cultivate a positive and inclusive culture that reflects our commitment to animal welfare and excellence in care.
– Encourage a sense of pride and ownership among team members by recognizing and celebrating achievements.
– Promote a healthy work-life balance and employee well-being.
Training and Development:
– Identify training needs within the team and coordinate relevant training sessions.
– Support ongoing education and skill development for animal caretakers.
– Implement and reinforce best practices in animal care.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in animal care, with a deep understanding of the needs of various species is preferred.
Leadership experience, with a focus on building and maintaining a positive team culture.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Previous experience in a leadership role within an animal care facility.
Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to upholding ethical standards in care.
