Job Summary
Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to provide equipment, supplies, and technical assistance for instruction and research; supervises animal care assistants; performs routine care, cleaning, and maintenance of the Animal Suite, preparation areas, and instructional laboratories; maintains and organizes laboratory and field equipment and supplies; purchases and prepares materials and supplies.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with faculty and staff daily to prepare equipment and materials for courses and research.
Maintain, organize, and distribute field equipment and supplies.
Supervise animal care assistants; maintain and care for animals housed in the Animal Suite and other department spaces; responsible for all daily animal care, including during breaks and holidays.
Conform to all animal care regulations as per IACUC guidelines, including training, certifications, and inspections; assist with writing animal use protocols.
Research and purchase animal care, field equipment, and classroom supplies, including animal specimens for dissection.
Manage personal P-card for purchasing, reconciliation, and budgeting.
Assess and set up classroom needs daily; maintain cleanliness of Animal Suite, preparation rooms, and classrooms.
Hire and manage student animal-care assistants, including creating and maintaining job descriptions, posting jobs, reviewing applications, making hiring decisions, and approving timesheets.
Assist in maintaining lab equipment and preparing chemical solutions as needed.
Assist in maintaining chemical inventory and SDS information.
Support class field trips by driving and assisting with projects occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma plus college-level courses or equivalent work experience; at least two years related experience or demonstrated interest in biology/ecology-related technical work; physical ability to perform tasks including standing, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, and lifting; valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Some college or an Associate’s degree in a related field. Applicants without these qualifications are encouraged to apply, as diverse perspectives are valued.

Supervises students. Does not drive CC vehicles.

Anticipated Salary Range
$19.25 to $21.40 per hour
