Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility. As a Kennel Technician, you will ensure that all pets receive the attention, exercise, and hygiene they need while providing excellent customer service to pet owners. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and have experience in handling various types of pets.
Responsibilities
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising dogs and cats.
Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
Assist in animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
Provide basic grooming services such as brushing and nail trimming.
Ensure proper handling techniques are used for all animals to minimize stress.
Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and behaviors.
Assist with administrative tasks related to pet care, including record keeping.
Qualifications
Experience in kennel work or animal handling is preferred.
Knowledge of basic animal care practices and veterinary procedures is a plus.
Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) as required for animal care tasks.
Strong customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners.
Familiarity with dog handling techniques and animal restraint methods.
Previous experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is advantageous but not required.
A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare.
