Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate animal husbandry and kennel care, including feeding, cleaning, medication administration, and monitoring animals’ health and behavior.
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with clinical procedures such as animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
- Support laboratory tasks including sample processing and maintaining accurate records of animal treatments.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques; assist with dog handling and other species as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques within treatment areas to prevent infection and ensure a sterile environment.
- Support front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and communicating with pet owners.
- Float between departments to provide flexible support in areas like critical care, surgery prep, or general kennel duties.
- Overall hospital cleanliness and maintenance
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; experience working in a veterinary clinic is highly valued.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic laboratory procedures a plus
- Experience with animal restraint techniques, medication administration, and pet care best practices.
- Excellent communication skills
