Little River Animal Hospital has an opening for a Full-Time Veterinary Kennel assistant to join our team!
Location: 15710 Birmingham Hwy Alpharetta, Georgia 30004
Shift Details: FT 3-3.5 days a week, must be available some weekends and holidays.
Compensation: $17 – $20 / hour based on experience

Job Summary: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of direct management overseeing a team of employees in an animal setting. You must love working with clients as much as animals and possess both excellent telephone and in-person client service and communication skills. The ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment and handle multiple tasks at once with an attention to detail is required. Strong organizational skills and computer experience is essential.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform tasks directly related to animal care including walking, feeding, bathing, medicating, enrichment, sanitization and laundry.
Oversee and ensure all standards of care are being met for all pets in our care
Oversee the training and development of team members
Lead by example in professionalism and maintain accountability of policies and procedures
Team scheduling
Working directly with team members and clients to help facilitate efficient flow of information and care of boarding, grooming and daycare pets.
Assist in marketing and social media efforts
Research and create opportunities for enrichment and growth of programs
Maintain an environment of teamwork and respect
Supply ordering
All other aspects of management including hiring, coaching, goal setting and evaluations
Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (Please see attached)
Demonstrates ability to relate well with people
Ability to communicate effectively in an amicable and pleasant manner
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge about animal breeds, proper care, and grooming cuts
Ability to work without direct supervision
Knowledge of administrative techniques
Ability to produce accurate work under stress
Effective problem solving skills
Proven ability to work effectively and with initiative in a multi-faceted position requiring attention to a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous kennel and/or technician experience
Customer service skills
Supervisory experience
Team leadership skills
Physical Requirements:
Primarily a position with lengthy standing, walking, twisting and bending. Will be expected to lift pets into kennels and bathing areas with sufficient help.
Required lifting of large pet food bags and other miscellaneous items.
Employee may be rabies vaccinated.
May require restraining of aggressive pets.
