The Kennel Technician is responsible for providing attentive care to animals and maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment within the kennel facility. This role includes a variety of duties related to animal supervision, facility upkeep, and communication with staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety and well-being of all animals in our care.
Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and common areas to maintain sanitary conditions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and functional kennel environment.
Regularly wash dishes, launder bedding, and replenish fresh blankets.
Provide food and water to animals according to established schedules.
Administer medications and offer basic medical care as directed.
Monitor animal health and behavior, and report any concerns promptly.
Walk dogs and ensure playtime or supervised activities in designated areas.
Clean up after animals, including during outdoor walks.
Demonstrate the ability to read animal behavior and interact confidently with dogs.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure consistent animal care.
Collaborate with coworkers and actively seek opportunities to assist others.
Stay open to feedback and be willing to problem-solve as challenges arise.
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Safely handle or lift animals weighing up to 30 pounds.
Perform well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Availability to work at least one weekend day, with flexibility for afternoon and evening shifts.
