Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Attendant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our kennel facility. Your primary focus will be to ensure a clean, safe, and nurturing environment for all pets while providing excellent customer service to pet owners. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and have experience working with dogs, cats, horses, and other pets.
Duties
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising dogs.
Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by regularly cleaning and disinfecting cages, play areas, and equipment.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management.
Interact with pet owners to provide updates on their pets’ well-being and answer any questions they may have.
Help with the intake process for new animals, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.
Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive environment for both pets and staff.
Work in an efficient manner to achieve maximum cleanliness of the facility among completing other housekeeping tasks.
Ensure safety protocols are followed in order to maintain the safety of staff and animals.
Administer medication to animals as needed.
Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Experience in the veterinary or another animal-related field is preferred.
Knowledge of dog training techniques is a plus.
Strong background in animal care and handling.
Excellent customer service skills to interact effectively with pet owners.
Proficiency in animal restraint techniques for safe handling of pets.
Familiarity with general pet care practices including feeding, grooming, and health monitoring.
Experience working in a kennel or similar environment is advantageous.
Ability to handle various breeds of dogs, cats, and horses with confidence and care.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with other staff members.
