Kennel Attendant Jobs in Lafayette, IN at Petsburgh Pet Care
Hiring part-time/full time kennel attendant to join the team at our AAHA accredited hospital to care for our boarding pets and facility. Being a kennel attendant is an active and physically demanding job. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for most of a 7 hour shift, and frequently bend over to pick things up. Must be available for 25-35 hours per week or more as needed. You will be required to work outside during the summer and the winter. Seasonal work may also be available during holidays and summer time. Typical shifts begin at 6am through 1pm and 12pm to 7pm but may vary. Must be a reliable and punctual individual who is available mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. We provide enrichment for the pets including playtime, giving a variety of treats, and providing media/communications with the owner. We value the relationships we form making the pets and owners feel as comfortable as possible with our care.
Typical tasks include the following:
Feed and water pets according to feeding instructions.
Walk dogs from indoor quarters to fenced outdoor area multiple times a day for elimination.
Exercise and provide enrichment to pets to maintain their physical and mental health.
Observe pets to detect signs of illness, disease, or injury.
Contact the veterinary team to secure treatment for any illnesses, diseases, or injuries.
Do facility laundry and clean, organize, maintain, and disinfect pet quarters and equipment.
Collect and record pet information, such as weight, bathroom habits, and food intake.
Respond to questions from patrons, and provide information about pets, such as behavior and activity to pet owners.
Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, positive, and enjoy serving pets and people. We are looking for someone with integrity who can take initiative. Dependability, flexibility, and a love for all kinds of pets are also important!
