Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, providing support in a fast-paced environment. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of animals in our facility, ensuring their health, safety, and comfort.
Duties
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising pets.
Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a safe environment.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments as needed.
Support customer service efforts by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets’ needs and well-being.
Help with administrative tasks such as maintaining records of animal care and services provided.
Participate in training sessions for new staff on proper animal handling techniques.
Skills
Experience as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary setting is highly desirable.
Strong customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners.
Knowledge of pet grooming techniques to maintain the appearance of animals.
Proficient in animal restraint methods to ensure safety during handling.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when moving animals or equipment.
Familiarity with general veterinary practices and procedures is beneficial.
Competence in animal handling and behavior assessment to ensure safe interactions.
Experience in dog training or behavioral techniques is a plus.
