Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility, ensuring they are comfortable, safe, and healthy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess skills in handling various breeds of dogs and other pets.
Duties
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising them.
Maintain cleanliness of kennels of dogs and cats, and surrounding areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures as needed.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the supervising staff.
Engage in dog handling activities, including walking and playing with dogs to promote their well-being.
Be good with dogs and cats
Collaborate with veterinary technicians or assistants during medical treatments or check-ups.
Participate in training sessions when necessary.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Requirements
Previous experience in animal care or related fields such as veterinary assistance or pet grooming is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong skills in animal restraint and dog handling are highly desirable.
A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively.
Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting animals, cleaning kennels, and standing for extended periods.
Knowledge of basic pet care practices is an advantage; training will be provided for specific tasks as needed.
