Kennel Assistant – Hiring Urgently!!! Jobs in Belmont, NC at Claws and Paws Inn
ATTENTION !! Pet Lovers Needed – We are looking for 1 – 2 new staff members to work as a kennel assistant, part time position only.
- The job requires you to be on your feet 6-11 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to control large breed dogs on a leash.
- Must be able to work Weekends (one weekend shift a month required) or as needed.
- Holidays (Two Required) or as needed.
The job involves socializing pets in groups of 15 or 10 depending on their breed size and behavior.
Solo staff yard supervision may be required at times, but we often station two staff members for supervizing the play area.
We also provide baths as needed, we are responsible for walking pets on slip leads using appropriate handling methods, handling or holding pets for other staff members while they clean medicate or care for pets, we prepare and serve meals and provide treats, we are responsible for monitoring and reporting on all pets in our care to keep our staff and pet parents informed, and we do medicate pets as well – Our clientele are dogs and cats most commonly with the very rare occasion of an exotic pet.
We offer training in all areas and cross train all of our employees to be capable in each department, including safety and risk training.
All Employees must be ready to be trained for potentially filling-in at the front desk when needed – You would be expected to help by answering phone calls, talking with customers at the front desk, understanding and using our computer system to create and edit reservations, and receiving payments when needed.
We look for personalities that can bring comfort to clients, and build relationships, while pet parents leave their furbabies in our hands. We need people that love animals, show up, show compassion, and pay attention to detail.
Our Team goal is to be the cleanest, safest, and most fun pet care option there is for our furry guests in the area!
While outside in our fenced in play yard, yard staff are expected to upkeep the cleanliness of the yard, play with our pets, monitor their behavior, play styles, and health while socializing or during one on one time.
Being prepared for any misbehavior or medical attention means Paying Attention, and communicating with other staff in a clear and timely manner.
Cleaning is also a Main part of the job – we clean on a routine throughout the day, keep up with chores as needed such as dishes and laundry, sweeping and mopping, ect. Tasks are divided by the day of the week and we have daily cleaning tasks as well that are tackled while pets are outside enjoying their play time 🙂
The right employee must be able to work throughout the week, weekends and holidays as needed, we are flexible and understanding of outside factors but a minimum of two holiday shifts are required, and a minimum of one full weekend shift is also required.
Uniforms provided. Scrubs recommended, Athletic casual allowed. Non-Slip Shoes and Closed Toed Shoes are Required.
