Kennel Assistant Jobs in West Branch, MI at Rea Family Animal Shelter
YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER!
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning dog kennels, cat kennels, and community cat rooms.
You will deal with poop, urine, and vomit. This is not a job for people with a weak stomach.
You will be doing dishes, taking out trash, sweeping, mopping, and laundry.
We also do a lot of sorting returnables (cans, plastic, and glass). They are sometimes gross and dirty. Be prepared.
Weather permitting, there is a lot of walking required for this position. We also do a lot of snow shoveling in the winter.
Dress code: please be appropriate. We do not suggest wearing anything nice, or that you don’t want ruined. We clean with a lot of bleach here. With tht being said, plese still be appropriate!
You must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Schedules will vary but the position is about 25 hours per week. It could be more; it could be less.
This position is REQUIRED to work every other weekend, and we do rotating holidays here.
Weekdays the shift will usually start at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Shifts all end at 5 p.m.
WEEKEND SHIFTS WILL ALWAYS BE 8 A.M. UNTIL 5 P.M.
Schedules are not negotiable. We can somewhat work around the schedule of another job. There is only a handful of employees here, so being prompt, dependable, and flexible is a must.
Rate of pay will start at minimum wage. You are eligible but not guaranteed a raise after the 90-day probationary period is up.
We offer 40 hours per year of PTO time, that is available for use when your 90-day probationary period is up. Raises, if given, reflect time working at the shelter, and performance.
Pay raises can also be given periodically, based on attendance and performance.
