We are looking for a dedicated, hardworking, and compassionate Full-Time Kennel Assistant to join our team and help provide the best care to our patients while contributing to the smooth operation of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care & Monitoring:
Ensure that all animals in the kennel are properly cared for, including feeding, watering, and cleaning.
Provide exercise and playtime for animals when appropriate, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals, noting any changes and reporting them to the veterinary team.
Cleaning & Sanitation:
Clean and maintain kennel areas, including cages, runs, and the surrounding facility.
Ensure proper disposal of waste and sanitization of animal areas to maintain a clean, safe environment.
Maintain cleanliness in common areas of the hospital, including hallways, lobby, and treatment rooms.
Client Communication & Assistance:
Assist clients during drop-off and pick-up times, ensuring a positive experience.
Provide clients with information regarding their pets’ condition and care instructions.
Notify the appropriate veterinary staff if clients have any specific concerns about their pets.
Assisting Veterinary Team:
Support the veterinary team by preparing animals for examination or procedures, as needed.
Assist with the movement and transport of animals between different areas of the facility.
Help ensure that animals’ medical records are accurately kept up to date.
Team Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with the rest of the kennel team, veterinary technicians, and doctors to ensure that all animals are cared for efficiently and effectively.
Provide support to other team members during busy times or in emergency situations.
Participate in team meetings and trainings to enhance overall care standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise to be Successful
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in animal care, kennel, or veterinary settings is preferred, but not required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Skills & Competencies:
Passion for animal care and comfort, with the ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Excellent communication skills, both with clients and team members.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A compassionate, reliable, and professional demeanor.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move animals weighing up to 50 lbs as necessary.
Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including cleaning and sanitizing areas.
