Full Job Description
Heritage Oaks Veterinary Hospital is seeking a kennel technician to join our team! to provide exceptional care for our furry guests! As a kennel technician, you are an integral part in our hospital’s ability to run smoothly and provide exceptional care. As such, the ideal candidate would have a passion for animal care, be organized, have the ability to handle various tasks in a fast-paced environment, and be punctual. Our hospital has a no drama policy and we’d love to find a candidate with a positive outlook and go-with-the-flow attitude that matches our own.
Duties:
– Ensure cleanliness in all areas of the hospital (exam rooms, kennels, surgery, lobby)
– Assist in gentle restraint of dogs and cats for vaccines, pedicures, catheter placement, treatments
– Walk our in hospital patients and provide them with food and water as needed
– Work as a team
– Aid veterinary technicians in setting up diagnostics (fecal flotations, ear cytology, heart worm tests) and prepping vaccines for wellness exams
Experience:
– Previous experience in animal care or a related field is preferred, but not required for the right candidate
– Knowledge of low-stress animal handling techniques and feline/canine behavior
– Ability to lift 40lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
– Comfortable with handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
Requirements:

– Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor towards animals, clients, and coworkers.
– Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment
– Willingness to learn new skills
