Role Description The Kennel Assistant is a full-time, on-site role located in Fort Worth, TX, supporting the daily care and well-being of dogs in training and boarding programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include feeding, watering, and exercising dogs, monitoring their health and behavior, and maintaining clean, sanitary kennels and common areas. The role involves performing laundry duties, cleaning crates and play areas, and restocking supplies to ensure a safe and organized environment. The Kennel Assistant will assist with safe animal handling during check-in, training sessions, and departures, and will communicate clearly with trainers and clients about pet status, behavior, and any concerns. This position requires reliability, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare and professional service.
Qualifications
- Strong Animal Care and Pet Care skills, with the ability to follow feeding, exercise, and health-monitoring routines.
- Hands-on experience or comfort with safe Animal Handling, including leash control, crate handling, and behavior observation.
- Ability to perform Laundry and basic cleaning tasks to maintain hygienic kennels, bedding, and facility spaces.
- Clear and respectful Communication skills for interacting with team members and clients, and for documenting animal care notes.
- Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and the ability to follow structured procedures and safety protocols.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift moderate weights (e.g., dogs, supplies), and work in an active kennel environment.
- Prior experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, shelter, or dog training/boarding facility is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to learn Sentinel K9 training and care practices.
