Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to their care and well-being. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for the animals in our care. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces by performing regular cleaning tasks.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the supervising staff.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures as needed.
- Support dog training sessions by reinforcing commands and behaviors as directed by trainers.
- Ensure all animals are handled safely and humanely during interactions.
- Assist with pet sitting services when required, ensuring pets receive proper care in their home environment.
- Participate in heavy lifting tasks when moving animals or cleaning equipment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of pet care practices and animal behavior.
- Experience in dog training or handling preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform animal restraint techniques safely.
- Familiarity with basic grooming practices is advantageous.
- Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is a plus.
- Capability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as part of daily tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and commitment to providing high-quality care.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 – $13.00 per hour
