Kennel Assistant Jobs in Mechanicsville, VA at Mechanicsville Animal Hospital
We are seeking a part-time kennel attendant to provide excellent care to our boarding patients and to provide housekeeping duties for our hospital.
This role has two open positions:
Part-time morning shift – 2-3 times a week with rotating weekends, starting at 7:00 AM.
Part-time evening shift – 2-3 times a week with rotating weekends, flexible start time (depending on hire) but shift ends at 7:30 PM.
*** MUST BE ABLE TO WORK HOLIDAYS ***
RESPONSIBILITIES: including, but not limited to:
Feeding and walking animals
Giving Medication
Documentation
Cleaning bowls/dishes
Cleaning all cages, runs, and kennel areas.
Housekeeping duties like mopping and sweeping hospital, laundry, restocking supplies, collecting trash, dishes, etc.
Bathing animals
Performing services like nail trims, anal glands, and vaccinations (not required)
Assist other employees and clients in a cheerful and respectful manner as a representative of Mechanicsville Animal Hospital.
Client interactions, admitting and discharging animals.
Phone and Computer skills
Must enjoy working with dogs and cats.
REQUIREMENTS: including, but not limited to:
Healthy, positive attitude
Team Player
Able to humanely handle animals under various circumstances.
Ability to lift 40 lbs and carry 40 lbs bags and boxes.
Availability to work: morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Experience with handling dogs and cats, willingness to work with different animal personalities.
Able to be a team player and work well with others.
Able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Able to stand for long periods of time.
