Role Description The Junior IVD Specialist is a full-time, hybrid role based in Nairobi County, Kenya, with some flexibility for work from home. This role supports the evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products, including rapid diagnostic tests, in clinical and laboratory settings. Day-to-day tasks include assisting in product validation and performance testing, preparing reports and documentation, and supporting quality control procedures. The Junior IVD Specialist collaborates with senior technical staff to provide training and basic troubleshooting to customers, responds to technical inquiries, and helps ensure regulatory and company standards are met. The role also involves coordinating with internal teams on inventory needs, supporting field visits when required, and contributing to continuous improvement of IVD workflows and user support.
Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of in vitro diagnostics, rapid diagnostic tests, and basic laboratory procedures.
  • Skills in data collection, documentation, and report writing for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to assist with product testing, validation activities, and routine quality control checks.
  • Strong communication and customer support skills for training users and responding to technical queries.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks in a hybrid work environment.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Interest in public health and improving access to diagnostics across Kenya and Africa; prior field or clinical exposure is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel within Nairobi County and occasionally to other regions, as needed.
