Responsibilities
Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to ICU patients.
Maintain a clean and organized ICU environment, including cleaning kennels, changing bedding, and disinfecting surfaces, following infection control protocols.
Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications for ICU procedures and treatments.
Assist during specialized ICU procedures such as venipuncture, urinary catheterization, and wound management.
Observe and report changes in patient behavior, appetite, or physical condition to the veterinary team.
Aid in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed.
Document patient information, treatments, and observations accurately in medical records.
Communicate professionally with pet owners, providing updates and answering inquiries as directed by the veterinary team.
Support other hospital departments as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a veterinary ICU or critical care setting preferred.
Strong understanding of ICU procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
Effective communication skills to interact professionally and compassionately with the veterinary team and pet owners.
Care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance.
Physical Requirements
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting, restraining, and transporting patients.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Capability to lift, bend, reach, push, and squat most of the workday.
Frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation.
