Certified Horticulture Technician
Duties & Responsibilities:
Survey and assess designated projects and jobsitesResponsible for constructing and maintaining gardensPlan job in an effective manner to ensure optimum job efficiency and effectivenessUse and operate tools and equipment used in horticulturePlant seeds and transplant seedlingsTree, shrub, and plant examination and treatmentCare for growing plants by watering, pruning, weeding, cultivating, and removing dead or damaged leaf tissueInspect, handle, and transport nursery stockSpread top soil and lay sodPlant fertilization and wateringPrune trees, shrubs, and hedgesGeneral lawn and garden maintenanceOperate power mowers, push mowers, tractors, blowers, electric clippers, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipmentPerform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments, shop & equipmentAssist with landscape constructions when neededComplete daily paperwork, tracking job time and material costsWear appropriate personal protective equipment at all timesComply with all company policies and regulationsWork in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulationsCommunicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner
Requirements:
Completion of college, vocational, or technical training
Horticulturist Trade Certification or Lawn Gardener Trade Certification Minimum 1-2 years of experience
Plant knowledge and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Physically fit with strong stamina
Basic measurement and calculation skills
Ability to follow safe working procedures
Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team Speak, read, and write English Must possess a clean/valid driver’s license 
