Role Profile
The Head of Risk Management provides strategic leadership and independent oversight of second- and third-line assurance functions across SAJIDA Foundation’s Microfinance, Development Programme and Social Enterprises. Leading the Internal Audit, Compliance & QA, Inspection, and Risk and Sustainable Governance units, the incumbent is responsible for building and directing a large, geographically dispersed team that safeguards the integrity of the Programme’s branch network, protects portfolio quality, ensures regulatory compliance (including with the Microcredit Regulatory Authority, MRA), and strengthens enterprise risk management and sustainable governance practices across the organization. The role works closely with the Board Audit & Risk Committee to provide independent, evidence-based assurance on financial, operational, compliance and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead audit, compliance, inspection, and risk as one integrated assurance function, setting strategy and unit-wide priorities for the Microfinance, Development Programme and Social Enterprises.
- Own the annual risk-based audit plan and personally lead audits of credit risk, PAR, loan files, cash controls, and branch financial operations.
- Enforce audit quality against ISA, IAS, IFRS, and GIA standards across all internal and external/statutory audit engagements.
- Ensure full MRA and regulatory compliance across branches, closing gaps before they become findings.
- Run branch-level inspections and fraud investigations, driving root-cause analysis and corrective action to closure.
- Maintain the enterprise risk register, running quarterly risk reviews and holding units accountable for mitigation.
- Manage a large, multi-branch team, setting standards, building capacity, and ensuring consistent execution nationwide.
- Represent SAJIDA to regulators, statutory auditors, and donors on all audit, compliance, and risk matters.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification (FCA/ACA (ICAB)/FCMA (ICMAB) or CIA) –with minimum 10 years of Professional Experience.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams across multiple locations or branches.
- Experience leading large internal or external audits with knowledge of ISAs, IASs, IFRSs, GIAs, and relevant standards.
